A brief portrait of Eurailscout Inspection and Analysis b.v.

Eurailscout Inspection & Analysis b.v. was founded in 1998 by German and Dutch parent companies, with the aim of creating a Europe-wide supplier of measurement and testing services in the railway sector. The ultrasound testing station (NS Ultrasoonbedrijf), privatised within the scope of the Dutch railway reform, has been acquired and integrated in the Eurailscout organisation. Eurailscout is therefore able to look back upon more than 30 years of experience in the field of railway testing.

Besides the ultrasound activity, the UFM 120 universal rail measurement train, introduced in 1998, has enabled us to acquire know-how in the area of infrastructure evaluation.

Today, Eurailscout is the largest independent supplier of measurement and testing services in the railway sector in Europe, with an unequalled range of service offers. From below ground (Georadar), along the rails, to the overhead contact line, we offer all measurements, tests and analyses.

An important area is rail testing, for which we make use of the eddy current measurements (UST 96 and UST 02) and high-resolution video recordings of the gauge line, in addition to the proven and continuously improved ultrasound testing with our diagnostic trains. This allows a vastly more comprehensive view of the rails and rail damage than previously possible. The measurement of grooves and the transverse rail profiles (with the UFM 120) supplement the rail information. With the help of LCC-oriented rail management, considerable savings can be realised.

Besides test trains, we also have numerous employees certified in different levels of ultrasound and eddy current testing in accordance with EN 473 / ASNT, who inspect and classify rail faults with manual equipment.

The other diagnostic trains (UFM 160, UFM 120 and UFM 07) serve for the evaluation of the remaining railway infrastructure. Thus, we measure the rail geometry, the longitudinal and transverse rail profiles, locate missing fixing material, and generate excellent video recordings from the driver's perspective. For the overhead contact line, in addition to the lateral position and the height, the wear and the forces and accelerations measured on the pantograph.

The newest product line VST replaces the visual inspection of the switches on-site. With our VST-series vehicles, the switches of a large railroad station can be acquired in a single work shift, and the actual switch inspection is then carried out on the monitor screen. Every year, we record several thousand track switches in the Netherlands with our VST.

With the ODT 08, Eurailscout offers the customer a comprehensive overhead contact line inspection, right up to automatic visual inspection (AOI).
