UFM 120

UFM 120 - Universal rail measurement vehicle

The UFM 120 is a multifunctional rail line measurement and inspection vehicle conceived for international use on European standard gauge.

Important data on rail geometry, rail and contact wire is measured with great accuracy during measurement journeys. Rail and rail surroundings fault diagrams and messages are executed. For this purpose the vehicle has been equipped with the latest in measurement and calculation technology. All measurement methods are undertaken without contact with or influence on any rail structure. Measurement results are compared at a common point of reference. Precise allocation of a test result to a rail is possible via accurate DGPS location reference. The UFM 120 uses diesel power and can move and measure in both directions at a maximum speed of 120 kph at any time of the day or night.

Data display, storage and analysis

All values measured during inspection are displayed on the monitor and directly documented on the printer. The setup of the display, ordering of the signals, scale factors, expansion values, calculations, links and analyses, colours, display text, language, reports and so on can be configured freely and modified according to the special wishes of each client. Such modifications can be executed without requiring extra programming and within minutes.

All measurement data is stored digitally. It can be reviewed again in playback after an inspection journey, then analysed and transferred to other databanks (IIS for example).

The UFM 120's measurement technology and software allows for the first time ever the extremely accurate allocation of rail parameters in different ranges - geometry, contact wire and profile. Results from other measurement vehicles can also be simulated without extra expense. In this way customers can compare UFM 120 measurements with those from older vehicles and can thus obtain precise data in smooth transition from old to new measurement technologies.
