Automatically loaded Switch Measurement

Increasing Railway Travel Safety through automatically loaded Switch Measurement of the Geometry in Switches and Switch Inspection.

In September 2010 at INNOTRANS, the world’s leading railway specialist fair in Berlin, Eurailscout is presenting its latest development of a switch inspection and measurement vehicle (SIM) for the automatic loaded measurement of the geometry in switches and intersections, as well as for switch inspection, in order to increase rail travel safety.
The small measurement vehicle can be operated at speeds up to 80 kph (40 kph in switches) with external traction. The measurement systems can be operated by one operator who is located in the shunting vehicle. Due to its low profile, the SIM can be operated in both directions without changing the position of the locomotive. The SIM is also able to measure track geometry and rail profile and to make high resolution line scan pictures from the rails as well as panorama pictures representing the train driver’s view.
