Meryy Christmas 2014

Fighting Ebola:

Instead of gifts, we support in Germany the association Cap Anamur/Deutsche Not-Ärzte e.V. (German emergency doctors association). Since five years Cap Anamur / Deutsche Not-Ärzte e.V. are supervising the only children’s hospital in Sierra Leone. In 2011 the association has built up Pikin Paddy, a home for street children.  To identify cases of Ebola as early as possible, Cap Anamur has built up a screening and isolation unit within only a few weeks. Under strictest safety precautions patients are isolated, taken care of and tested for Ebola. The Cap Anamur physicians and nurses face up to an immense physical and mental challenge as the risk of an infection is ubiquitous. The team of social workers has taken in the first Ebola-children in Pikin Paddy.

In the Netherlands we support The Duchenne Foundation.

If you are born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, muscles slowly degenerate with big effects on quality of life and life expectations. Worldwide 1 of 3600 boys is born with this decease. We have heard about the necessity of research and support for Duchenne. Thanks to this foundation life expectation has increased over the years. More than 50% of the people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy now grow older than 30 years.
