At the end of September, EURAILSCOUT France signed a contract to set up a 3D point cloud processing department in collaboration with ALTAMETRIS another SNCF Réseau subsidiary specialized in drones and air assets.

During 6 months in the first phase, this group of companies aims to process the data recorded on the French Atlantic coast to check the clearance gauge of the trains. It is about 1500 km in this part of the French network.

This project must realize, with the training and the skills implemented, to optimize the current processes. Then, at the beginning of 2019, the optimized processes will be used to process the data of the SNCF Surveillance Trains (supervision of the network). These three SNCF trains will be equipped with a 3D RIEGL VMX-Rail mobile LIDAR mapping system (three heads). The goal is to measure 25 to 30,000 km / year delivering track mapping and a digital clearance gauge.
